National Missing Pet Finding Service
I have a business that helps find missing pets quickly and without much effort on the part of the owner.
No matter how careful we are (e.g., fence, electric fence, leash, chip implants, tags, collars, etc.), pets can and will run away. Over one-third of pets will go missing in their lifetime. Only about 17 % of lost dogs and 2% of lost cats ever find their way back home. It is easy to imagine the many dangers lost pets face. In addition, some shelters are required to euthanize after three days. Customary ways of trying to locate a lost pet are very ineffective. Posting fliers wastes precious time and word of mouth limits outreach. Fliers are subject to the elements and infrequently read. The finder of your pet is unlikely to have your contact info, or the pet’s picture.
FindMyLostPet.net creates a Lost Pet Alert© in the form of postcards which are in the mail, in one business day, to hundreds or thousands of addresses near where the pet was lost. The Alert contains all the necessary contact information and a picture of the pet. The Lost Pet Alerts© are not mistaken for junk mail as they create an emotional impact and include the suggestion to “…post the Alert on your refrigerator for use when you need it.”. The pet owner also has the option to send Alerts to nearby Veterinarians, rescue groups, shelters and the like. Soon FindMyLostPet.net will offer a subscription plan allowing pet owners to use the service for a low monthly fee. If a subscriber’s pet becomes lost a package of Alerts will be created and mailed at no further cost. Note that some pet insurance policies cover the cost to find a lost pet.
I believe it to be a good and useful service and people should at least bookmark it so they have it when they, or a friend, need it. Again, we have national coverage
