Advantages to Life Size Pet Urns

by Syndicated Pet Articles

Pet owners come to know their cats and dogs as more than just pets; they are members of the family. It is quite similar to losing a good friend or child. So what should a person do when their animal dies?

There are many benefits to the practice of Reiki, but two of my favorites are how easy it is for anyone to learn, and how much animals love it.

In my introductory Reiki Level I class, I explain to the students that the attunement process, as conducted by a Reiki Master Teacher, enables any student to immediately begin facilitating Reiki afterward. By becoming “attuned” to the energy of Reiki the student becomes a conduit, with the focus on “being,” rather than “doing,” Reiki. In other words, in Level I it is “hands-on, Reiki on.” If it is your intention to offer Reiki, and the recipient wishes to receive Reiki, then the flow of energy simply happens — there is no need to concentrate, or perform complicated steps.

During my Level I training my teacher, Kathleen Wilk, described Reiki as a milkshake; the recipient draws on the Reiki energy (the milkshake), through the practitioner. The rate of flow, fast or slow, is gauged by the perfect intelligence of the Reiki energy and its dialogue with the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual needs of the recipient. The Reiki practitioner is simply the straw. When the flow of the energy is fast, it is not uncommon for the Reiki practitioner to become quite warm.

Debbie Noyes, a brand-new Level I Reiki practitioner, shared a story she called “Accidental Reiki” at a recent Reiki Review class; a story that illustrates the beautiful simplicity and power of Reiki as well as the innate understanding that animals have about its’ benefits.

Debbie told the class, “One night I fell asleep with my right hand outstretched, palm up, and woke up feeling really hot and sweaty. My cat was lying on my hand, and my other hand was on top of him. I was doing Reiki in my sleep!”

The whole class laughed — we could easily visualize her cat seeing his opportunity and placing his order: one Reiki sandwich, please!

This afternoon my email inbox held a Breaking News email from The Reiki Digest, announcing that Pamela Miles, author of Reiki: A Comprehensive Guide, and a pioneer of Reiki in medical environments, will be a guest on The Dr. Oz Show this week. A quick check of my local station determined that it will show in Seattle tomorrow, January 6, 2010 at 3:00pm and 12 midnight on KOMO4.

According to the article on The Reiki Digest, the segment on Reiki was saved for last. Editor Janet Dagley Dagley, quotes Pamela, “Mehmet saves Reiki for the last, saying, ‘The next one I’m going to talk about is one of my favorites. We’ve been using it in the Oz family for years.’ Then he mentions that his wife is a Reiki master and that he and I worked together in surgery; then I demonstrate chair Reiki. (The audience member told me her headache improved but that’s not on the show.)”

As a Reiki Master Teacher for 12 years, and a pioneer in Reiki for animals, and someone still in awe of its gifts, I am thrilled that Reiki may finally get the full recognition that it deserves. My gratitude for the benefits in my own life as well as its gifts to my students and clients is boundless. An immensely positive shift took place in my own life when I took a Reiki class, for me it was essentially the birth of a new life. So this year I chose to teach Reiki Level I on my birthday, January 9th. Sharing the gifts that Reiki offers with others brings me great joy, and I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate.

My sincere thanks to everyone, from the original Masters to the newest Reiki students, for your passion for Reiki and your hard work in bringing its benefits to the attention of the world. Reiki rocks!

When my clients and students arrive for a class or session, they often take the time to look around and see where my cats are and what they are doing. Chances are they are engaged in cat naps in comfy spots: snuggled deeply into fluffy cat beds perched on toasty radiators, bodies arranged into insanely cute positions (and often snoring); bonelessly draped over the cat tree, basking in the sunshine with feet dangling; or perhaps occupying one of my comfortable office chairs (which means I usually have to find something less comfortable to sit on so I can get some work done.

And some people look at me and say, “In my next life I want to come back as one of your cats.”

Really, the cats would discourage them from that, for being an animal in a high energy intensity household such as mine is not always easy for them. But I can certainly understand why someone would want their life, for cats have the whole stress relief and relaxation thing down pat, a point noted in a recent article in Feline Wellness Magazine entitled Kitty Knows Best which lists five feline stress busters for people: take catnaps, meditate, stretch your body, get a massage, and put you first.

And they are all excellent suggestions, but I have an additional one — regular energy clearing and balancing work for you and your animal companion. All living beings have energy bodies as well as physical ones, and our external fields can pick up or hold unwanted heavy energy (hucha) that gradually works its way into our interior flow, getting stuck and resulting in slow down or interruption of that flow which eventually manifests as physical and emotional challenges.

Where does this heavy energy come from? Simply from living and moving around in the modern world. An extreme example would be visiting or working in a hospital setting, where there are many people gathered under one roof who are frightened and in pain. A simpler one would be contact with someone who is angry. In both instances our energy fields can become clogged with that energy, and then we carry it home with us to our loved ones. And heavy energy does not just come from others, when we are under stress it manifests in our energy fields. In short, being under stress or being around others who are stressed can cause us to become energetically unbalanced.

The solution is a simple one: regularly clear your energy field, your home and your animal companions. For those who work in what one woman refers to as “Cubicle Nation,” otherwise known as The Office, you may want to clear your space there as well.

To do this you could use a variety of methods. The easiest way for most people, one that does not require any special training, is to smudge. Smudging uses the energetic and spiritual energy of a sacred pIant such as white sage, cedar or palo santo wood, in the form of smoke, to clear spaces or energy fields. This method is one that I teach all my beginning students in Reiki or shamanism. You can see some of the items mentioned in the smudge kits on my Shamanic Supplies page. If you can’t use or tolerate smoke, an alternative is a product like the Clear crystal essence mist which is completely odorless.

So, take a tip from the cats, put yourself first and give routine smudging a try. You might suddenly feel that weight that you’ve been carrying on your shoulders dissipate. You will feel more relaxed and at peace, and when you are relaxed and at peace your loved ones, furry or otherwise, will feel better, too. And that’s another way that cats have mastered the art of stress busting, they have staff!

It breaks my heart to face a stack of bills and no money left to take my pet to vet and yet are all those visits necessary? I’ve learned that my cats and dogs are far happier being cared for by me and in the comfort of our home.

The Best Care For My Dogs and Cats – At Home Care

Rose Puma twtr sqweb

Rose De Dan and Puma

I became interested in Tellington TTouch, a long time ago, but that interest kind of got sidelined while focusing on my shamanic training.

Recently I read some very impressive stories by a long-time animal communicator that fanned that interest back into action, especially since I have wanted some additional assistance for Puma, my wonderful dog companion, as he enters his senior years. And lo, and behold, Shannon Finch’s name crossed my path. So, Wild Reiki and Shamanic Healing is now hosting a TTouch class in Seattle for the very first time! (And I believe there will be a live demo with said dog, and perhaps one of my cats who is shy of being handled – I may borrow a video camera for that!)

INTRODUCTION TO TELLINGTON TTOUCH CLASS

• Do you have a shy or aggressive dog?
• A cat who is getting along in years?
• A bird who squawks incessently?
• Are you interested in enhancing the bond with your animals?

Then this hands-on workshop is for you.

You’ll learn how to improve your animal’s health and wellbeing with several TTouch techniques that release the tension, fear and anxiety that lead to behavior problems. You’ll learn how to ease the ailments associated with aging as well as first aid measures that can save your animal’s life. While TTouch can assist the healing of injuries and illness, and help change undesirable behaviors, it also builds a deeper rapport between humans and animals, so your critter doesn’t have to have a problem in order to benefit from this class.

Please do not bring your animal to the workshop, we’ll be practicing on willing stuffies (stuffed animals) this time around!

When: Saturday, December 5, 2009, 9:30am-12:30pm
Where: Wild Reiki and Shamanic Healing, Alki, Seattle, WA
Cost: $95 per person

Registration: Class size is limited to a small number of participants. If interested send me an email, and I will provide you with payment information.
