Household pets are no longer treated as the lower class animals that are fed on the floor, kept outside and taken care of at home. Instead, pets are now treated just as equally as each member of the family with a little bed to sleep on, a pretty eating dish, a place in the house and a weekend at the groomers down the street. If You’re an Animal Lover, You’ll Never Be Lonely
Happy Earth Day, although from a shamanic perspective it is Earth Day every day!
IMAGES YOU WON’T FORGET
In effort to make a greater difference on this official day for Pachamama (Mother Earth), I wanted to let everyone know about a photographer who is visually and graphically documenting the impact we as consumers are having on this planet. His images are thought-provoking, emotional, and hard-hitting, and they are making a difference.
Take a moment from your day to take a look at local Seattle photographer Chris Jordan’s exhibits “Running the Numbers: An American Self-Portrait” and “Intolerable Beauty: Portraits of American Mass Consumerism.”
Currently, Chris is traveling with National Geographic as their international Eco-ambassador for Earth Day 2008. He will exhibit his work, conduct workshops, and give public lectures and media appearances in Taipei, Lisbon, and Rome between April 9 and 30.
EARTH DAY CARD
Ed Begley and TerraPass are making an Earth Day card for Planet Earth, and you can add your own message to the card. Please do this right away, because they will deliver the card on Tuesday, Apr 22 @ 11pm.
The changes that each of us makes in our households and lives does make a difference. United we can create a world filled with beauty and harmony.
The image that accompanies this blog is a photo that I took of a tree bole at Zaca Mesa Lake in California, and appears as one of our Naturally Spirited Living Greeting Cards and in our new book Tails of a Healer: Animals, Reiki & Shamanism.
