Similar to ticks fleas have 4 developmental stages during their life. Unlike ticks there are many more unfavorable conditions that cause fleas to have a shortened life span. Fleas, because of their biological makeup do not favor dry areas. Since they cannot retain moisture when they breathe, they need humidity to survive.
